We Are One Community In Healthcare

MAGIC HAPPENS in and around Huntsville every summer and there’s more to it than a dramatic population increase or long sunny days. There is magic in how all our unique communities come together as one when supporting the greater good. Full time residents in Huntsville, Baysville and Burk’s Falls among other towns join seasonal residents from Lake of Bays, Fairy Lake and Bella Lake among others. We become one when it matters.

This is especially true when it comes to our hospital. It becomes everyone’s hospital when you spend time here. We’re all the same when we arrive at the emergency department doors.

This becomes very evident in the level of community support we’ve experienced this past year. Your donations helped the Huntsville Hospital Foundation raise over $5 million in 2024. That is an amazing achievement for a rural community. Gifts came from every corner of our towns and every shoreline of our lakes. I’m inspired by the support we get from full-time residents. And this year especially, I’m thankful for the amazing engagement of our seasonal residents.

Our hospital is your hospital indeed.

We all came together to help our hospital acquire Muskoka & Area’s first MRI. It is now fully operational. Our professionals are excited about local access and reduced wait times. This new facility is a glimpse into what the future of a new hospital will look and feel like.

But before that happens, we also have to address current needs: New mammography technology and an updated CT Scanner, for example. All designed to make care close to home more possible for more people. We’re already raising funds for these immediate requirements while at the same time, starting to put funds aside to help achieve our $35 million new hospital build local share goal.

When we act and give as one community, everything is possible.

I want to thank outgoing Chair Mike Harrower for leading us through these past few, transformative years as we geared up for hospital redevelopment. Mike is a true inspiration. As is our entire Board of talented and generous individuals. I also want to welcome Shelly McLean as the new Foundation Board Chair. Meet Shelly just once and you’ll be as excited as we are.

Finally, thanks to my team here at the Foundation. Your work ethic is beyond reproach and our results prove that every day. You inspire me.

Healthcare for life, here.

The Huntsville Hospital Foundation raises funds to support healthcare for life here by using donations to equip our hospital here. Your donations help the hospital acquire technology and tools that are not paid for by provincial taxes. Your support is used to ensure our community hospital has the capacity to serve a growing and changing population – in town, on our lakes and everywhere in between. Your generosity inspires the best healthcare professionals to work here. And when the future comes, which it always does, your support here means we’ll always be ready.
